Or, How to Write a Blog No One Reads!

I’ve been blogging for a few years now, and I’ve learned a lot about the process. But there’s one

thing that I’ve never quite mastered: writing blog posts that are both funny and informative.

I mean, I can write funny stuff. I can write informative stuff. But when I try to do both at the same time, it usually ends in disaster.

I’ll start out with a great idea for a funny blog post. I’ll write a few funny paragraphs, and I’ll think to myself, “This is going to be great!”

But then, I’ll start to get bogged down in the details. I’ll start to worry about making sure that my facts are correct. I’ll start to second-guess my jokes. And before I know it, the funny has gone out of the post, and I’m left with a boring, informative mess.

Or, the other way around. I’ll start out with a great idea for an informative blog post. I’ll do my research, I’ll write a few informative paragraphs, and I’ll think to myself, “This is going to be great!”

But then, I’ll start to get the urge to be funny. I’ll start to insert jokes into the post, and I’ll start to worry about making sure that the post is entertaining. And before I know it, the informativeness has gone out of the post, and I’m left with a jokey, fluffy mess.

So, what’s a struggling blogger to do? How can I write blog posts that are both funny and informative?

I’m not sure, to be honest. But I’m still trying to figure it out.

In the meantime, I’ll just keep on writing blog posts that are either funny or informative, but never both. And I’ll keep on laughing at myself when they inevitably turn out to be a mess.

Here are a few tips for writing funny blog posts:

  • Start with a great idea. If you’re not laughing at your own idea, no one else will.
  • Don’t be afraid to be yourself. Your readers will appreciate your unique voice.
  • Use humor to make a point. Don’t just write jokes for the sake of writing jokes.
  • Keep your writing concise. No one wants to read a long, rambling blog post.
  • Edit, edit, edit! Make sure your post is polished and error-free.

Here are a few tips for writing informative blog posts:

  • Do your research. Make sure you know what you’re talking about.
  • Be clear and concise. Get to the point quickly and easily.
  • Use visuals to break up your text. Images and videos can help to make your post more engaging.
  • Proofread your work carefully. Typos and grammatical errors will make you look unprofessional.

So, there you have it. My (not-so-funny) guide to writing blog posts that are both funny and informative. If you have any other tips, please share them in the comments below.

In the meantime, I’ll just keep on struggling. But I’m sure I’ll eventually figure it out.
